They struck up a friendship by passing notes during class, and soon got into a romantic relationship with him.

When Woods left to attend Stanford University in 1994, Gravell-Parr, then just Gravell, stayed behind to attend community college.
Woods and Gravell ended their relationship after three years when Woods lied to his parents about when he was returning from University and came back a day early to see Dina.

Woods’ parents were so furious with this act, they gave him an ultimatum to break things off with Dina.
He did so in a letter, leaving Gravell heartbroken.

The letter accuses Dina and her family of using and manipulating Woods, apologies for the surprising breakup but concludes he felt it was warranted.
“I feel used and manipulated by you and your family,” Tiger wrote in the letter.
Gravell remembers feeling betrayed and thinking their relationship was a lie.
She notes replaying that moment to this day.
Gravell notes grieving for the Tiger she fell in love with in high school, saying that Tiger had died and was replaced with someone she didn’t know.
