Kisumu-based digital journalist, social media influencer, and philanthropist Kelly Ken Rodgers Odinga proposed to his long-time lover, Lauren Atieno Ouso, fondly known as Nyar Uganda.
The 29-year-old put the ring on his sweetheart in a touching celebration of modern love at a heartwarming ceremony.

He told TUKO.co.ke that what makes their engagement even more special is how their love story began—on TikTok.

The couple’s journey started in early 2024 when Odinga stumbled upon a photo of Lauren that immediately caught his eye.
Drawn by her beauty and presence, he reached out with a direct message and asked for her number.
To his delight, Lauren responded warmly. Despite previous experiences of being ghosted, Odinga took a leap of faith and sent her fare to visit him in Kisumu from Kakamega.
“She kept her word,” Odinga shared. “That visit marked the beginning of something truly special.”
Ups and downs of Odinga's love story
Lauren, 24, a student at Sigalagala National Polytechnic, stood out not only for her looks but for her kind spirit, humility, and unwavering support.

Odinga, who had endured years of heartbreak and disappointment, found in Lauren a partner who matched his energy, values, and resilience.
Their love story, however, wasn’t all sunshine and roses. The couple endured long-distance struggles, misunderstandings, betrayals, and even breakups.
But through it all, they stayed grounded in love, prayer, and open communication.
“Most people would’ve given up, but we held on,” he said. “This relationship taught me that love, when it’s real, won’t let you go. It doesn’t quit.”
Lessons about love from Odinga's experience
Odinga, who even traveled outside the country with Lauren to express his commitment, proposed to her in a beautiful ceremony, just after she completed her college education.
With close friends and family in attendance, the moment marked a fresh chapter in their journey.
“She said yes,” Odinga beamed. “And in that moment, I knew everything we’d been through had led us to something real and lasting.”
Odinga hopes their story serves as a beacon of hope to others still searching for love.
He advised every man who’s ever loved deeply and still been hurt to continue believing in love, adding that real love brings peace.
"You won’t have to chase it. You’ll feel it in the calm, in the consistency,” he concluded.
Women professed love after he started dating Nyar Uganda
In an earlier story, Odinga disclosed that one of the women who rejected and blocked him years ago reappeared after he started dating Lauren.
She regretted her past actions and professed her love for him, adding that she had been following him with a pseudo-account and was jealous of the new girl.
The woman requested to be given the chance, but the social media influencer had made up his mind about his now-fiancée.
