His lover Winnie, who is pregnant and due anytime this month, recalled her partner's last words to her.

"Praise God, my name is Winnie Njeri Chege. Nick was the love of my life and I will take this opportunity to read whatever I wrote...,:" she said.
She was worried about his health, but he assured her not to worry about anything due to her condition.
"Even in his last moments, he told me. I don't want you to strain. I will forever love you for as long as I can live."

The journalist's baby mama, Dotty, showered him with praise, saying that he was a hands-on dad.
